Who on earth would ever imagine a longhorn steer out on a football field? Only in Texas.

Where can you find a dog that is the highest ranking member of the Corps of Cadets being the only bearer of five silver diamonds? Yep, in Texas.

Where would you see a team of Cowboys shoot four blank, 10-gauge shotgun shells out of Smokey the Canon in approval of their team? You got it, Texas.

Where will you find fans that kiss their dates every time their team scores..”because when the team scores, everybody scores.” You’re Dang right, Texas.

The list could go on an on about the mighty big traditions in Texas football.  In the Lone Star State, where the stars at night are big and bright, they know how to do things big. Not just big. Bigger. With two mighty teams that have met each other on the football field since 1894, The University of Texas and Texas A&M carry a one of college footballs longest standing rivalries. They don’t just dislike each other, they loathe each other. Instead of Remembering the Alamo, Texan’s remember if you are an Aggie or a Longhorn.

Aside from the friendly taunting of whether you are for UT or A&M, Texans have some of the greatest pride in their own state.  It’s Texas-sized, and Texan’s aren’t afraid to tell you that they do it bigger and better than anyone else. And when they tell you, it’s with an effortless, melodic drawl that can turn a 1 syllable word into 3.  The hats are bigger. The buckles shine brighter.  And their belief that they live in the greatest land in all of the United States grows deep in the heart of Texas. In the words of author John Steinbeck, “Texas is a state of mind. Texas is an obsession. Above all, Texas is a nation in every sense of the word.”

Doing it bigger and better is one goal accomplishing Dang Chick, Patty. With a heart of gold and a lending hand that is always helping others, she is constantly on the move to accomplish all of her goals. After a day of helping fix a cleft pallet on a child in need, the always lively nurse Patty is on the sidelines of her families activities.  She’s the soccer mom, the chef, the person you can count on when you need her and the mom that is devoted to her children while still making time for her passions. And if you need a shopping partner, she is able to spot a bargain and somehow make it look like it cost a million bucks. Dang Patty is a giver  through her profession, her volunteerism  and her willingness to always be there to help others, no matter what. She’s one great Dang Chick!

Making waves in the South after being a native West Coast babe is our other Dang Chick, Emily. She’s brought with her the laid back, free spirit that the West Coast offers to the rest of us. She is the Dang Chick that loves to live, and lives to love. A hardworking mother of 3, Emily is a constant fixture at all of her kids activities, supporting them in any choices they make while teaching them to love the world and respect the Earth. With a love of the outdoors, it wouldn’t be unusual to find her and her family camping outside in their backyard if they weren’t able to get to a campsite on a beautiful weekend. Or even driving cross-country so her kids can see the beauty of all of America, not just what surrounds them. She is the Dang Chick that you’ll have fun with no matter what and  the one that will always teach you to look at something from a different perspective. She is one cool Dang Chick!
